On 7 May the fourth meeting of the seminar cycle organised by T-OSSLab takes place, in collaboration with the University of Pisa, the Polo Tecnologico di Navacchio, the Province of Pisa and Regione Toscana.

The aim of the initiative is to promote the spread and use of open source tools in the Public Administration through talks by lecturers and experts who explore their technical, management and strategic aspects. The seminars are also aimed at companies in the sector as an opportunity for discussion, exchange and enrichment.

The seminar takes place on 7 May 2009 at the Department of Computer Science, Largo B. Pontecorvo 3, Building C, G.B. Gerace lecture hall, Pisa, from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

The lecturers are Flavia Marzano, UnaRete; Gianluca di Carlo, Province of Teramo; Stefano Noferi, noze srl; Romeo Zitarosa, Simone Fonda, Net7 srl.

The topic of the next seminar is E-Democracy.

Technologies have allowed PA in the past to inform citizens and provide them with services and tools to access the administration itself. New participation technologies enable administrations to better grasp citizens’ needs and aspirations, and on the other hand allow citizens to actively participate in political-administrative life and in choices that concern them directly.

The seminar presents a general overview of participation and social networking technologies and direct experiences within public bodies’ projects. As examples of open source solutions, ELGG and Lime Survey are presented.

As a good practice of participation, dialogue among all attendees will be encouraged.

Registration is free and open at www.tosslab.it.
