The proposal

The SMARTOUR (Intelligent Platform for Tourisms) project proposal takes shape, funded by MIUR under the PON “Ricerca e Competitività” 2007-2013, Cultural Heritage area.

The consortium integrates 9 SMEs, 4 universities (Politecnico di Torino, Perugia, Trento, La Sapienza) and 3 CNR institutes. Coordinator: iCampus (lead partner).

Planned technology stack

The cloud architecture envisioned in the proposal is based on platforms available and mature at the time:

  • OpenStack (Grizzly release, April 2013) as the main cloud prototyping base, with Nova, Swift, Glance, Horizon, Keystone components
  • OpenNebula and Eucalyptus as evaluated alternatives
  • Virtualisation on Xen, KVM or VMware vSphere
  • IaaS, PaaS and SaaS models
  • Declared priority for Open Source and FLOSS technologies

noze’s role

Stefano Noferi participates as software architect from the first draft, in partnership with 01 Sistemi. noze contributes experience in IT systems and architectures, FLOSS software and open standards. Activities include technology scouting, infrastructure analysis and cloud prototyping.

Territorial experiments involve Salerno, Prato, Pisa, Pistoia and Piedmont.
