The project
The ESCOGITARE project launches, developed with ISTI-CNR, RCOST and CRA (Council for Research and Experimentation in Agriculture). Funding comes from the Italian Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies, with a budget of approximately 30,000 EUR.
The components
The project unfolds along three main directions:
- Visual Workflow Manager: a web interface based on AJAX technologies that enables the visual composition of complex workflows. Users define operation sequences graphically, without the need for direct programming
- Visual simulation of DNA sequence experiments: an environment for designing and simulating bioinformatics experiments on genetic sequences, with graphical process representation
- BPEL process deployment and execution: the defined workflows are translated into BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) processes and distributed on the Grid Globus middleware for execution on distributed computing infrastructures
The significance
ESCOGITARE represents an intersection of bioinformatics, advanced web technologies and distributed computing. The project demonstrates noze’s ability to operate in interdisciplinary research contexts, building tools that make complex computational infrastructures accessible through intuitive interfaces.
