The product

B.O.S.S. (Business Open Source Server) is an all-in-one server solution based on Linux, designed for SMEs that need a complete LAN infrastructure without the complexity of managing separate components. The approach is that of a black box: a single device that integrates all essential network services.

The hardware platform is based on an Intel Pentium III at 1 GHz, 256 MB of RAM and 40 GB of storage.

Features

B.O.S.S. integrates a complete set of services:

  • Internet Sharing: shared connection for the entire local network
  • High Security: firewall, NAT, 128-bit SSL encryption, centralised authentication via OpenLDAP
  • Mail Server: handling millions of emails with POP3, IMAP, SMTP support, integrated webmail, antispam and antivirus (engine Amavis with McAfee)
  • File & Print Sharing: file and printer sharing compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux environments
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: data protection with recovery procedures
  • Virtual Web Administrator: browser-based administration interface
  • Advanced System & Net Monitor: real-time system and network monitoring
  • Remote Updates: remote update capability
  • Integrated Antivirus: centralised protection
  • VPN: secure remote access to the corporate network

The result is a server that replaces multiple proprietary products with a single Open Source solution, reducing licensing costs and management complexity.
