The event

The Linux Install Party takes place at the Polo Didattico Fibonacci, Via Buonarroti 4, Pisa, starting at 9 PM. The event is organised by the Computer Science Department and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Pisa. It coincides with the national Linux Day, promoted by the Italian Linux Society (ILS), a day dedicated to bringing GNU/Linux and free software closer to the general public.

Participants and sponsors

The event is sponsored by Icube, Netfarm and noze. The GULP (Gruppo Utenti Linux Pisa), the local Linux Users Group, participates actively in the initiative, providing hands-on assistance to attendees who want to install Linux on their machines.

noze’s contribution

noze is present at the event and provides real-time video streaming of the Install Party. This represents one of the early experiments in live web broadcasting of a community event in the Italian Open Source landscape. The streaming allows remote participants to follow the activities and presentations taking place at Polo Fibonacci.

The Linux Install Party embodies the spirit of the free software movement: sharing knowledge, mutual assistance and community-driven learning. Participants bring their own computers and receive guidance from experienced volunteers on installing and configuring GNU/Linux distributions.
