Fabio Adezio, CEO of noze, presents the PloneGov.org project at Linux Day 2008.
PloneGov.org: an e-government project linking 70 countries across 3 continents. Over 70 European, North and South American and African public bodies participate in the PloneGov project. By doing so, they aim to achieve independence from IT service providers, essentially developing — autonomously and cooperatively — applications and websites for their own use and for their citizens. PloneGov’s strategy relies above all on two Open Source tools: Zope and Plone. PloneGov’s success stems from the close collaboration between the Public sector (cities, regions and parliaments) and Zea Partners, an international non-profit network of SMEs producing Zope and Plone solutions.
Linux Day 2008
After the 2007 edition, Luccalug brings back Linux Day 2008 this year as well, held on Saturday 25 October at Villa Bruguier.
Event start at 9:00 am, end at 7:00 pm. The event is open to everyone and entirely free.
Linux Day is a national event articulated into local events whose purpose is to promote Linux and free software. Linux Day is promoted by ILS (Italian Linux Society) and organised locally by the Italian LUGs and other groups sharing the event’s goals.

Free software in the public administration
A series of conferences, most of them for a prepared audience, that will address the relationship between free software and public administration; the advantages such a choice may guarantee will be discussed and already-developed experiences illustrated.
Linux for everyone!
Introduction to GNU/Linux — morning: introductory conferences on the concept of free software and on the Linux world. All talks are designed for an audience that does not know or only marginally knows the OpenSource world.
Having fun with GNU/Linux — afternoon: explanatory talks open to all on the open source world. Ubuntu, KDE 4 but also music, video and creativity, and finally Openstreetmap, the Wikipedia of road maps.
Plus gadgets, interactive stands and a buffet lunch offered by the municipality of Capannori
At 1:00 pm a buffet lunch will be offered by the municipality of Capannori for all participants in the initiative. If you wish to stay for lunch, please register your attendance by signing up for the event. Throughout the day, stands with gadgets and demonstrations will be present; it will be possible to try some PCs with Linux installed and learn about Luccalug’s activities.
