The product

InFlow CMS is an Open Source content management system developed by noze, based on Zope and CMF (Content Management Framework). Designed for managing heterogeneous content in multi-user environments, InFlow introduces a set of features that are advanced for the time.

Architecture and features

The main features of InFlow:

  • Asynchronous workflow: each piece of content passes through defined states — private, pending, public — with transitions controlled by roles and permissions
  • Universal interface: a single interface for managing heterogeneous content types
  • Extensible content types: new content types can be added without modifying the core
  • RDF export and syndication: content is exportable in RDF format for syndication and interoperability
  • Distributed data: architecture optimised for concurrent access, suitable for editorial teams with multiple simultaneous operators
  • Multi-level access control: granular permissions on content, sections and features
  • History and reporting: change tracking and reporting on editorial activities
  • Compression and packing: storage and performance optimization

Adoption

InFlow is adopted by several sites and portals: 105.net, radiomontecarlo.net, unitedmusic.it, biblionauta.it, smfn.unipi.it (Faculty of Sciences, University of Pisa), mentelocale.it.

The system demonstrates that an Open Source CMS can compete with proprietary solutions in complex, high-traffic editorial environments.
