On 2 April the third meeting of the seminar cycle organised by T-OSSLab takes place, in collaboration with the University of Pisa, the Polo Tecnologico di Navacchio, the Province of Pisa and Regione Toscana.

The aim of the initiative is to promote the spread and use of open source tools in the Public Administration through talks by lecturers and experts who explore their technical, management and strategic aspects. The seminars are also aimed at companies in the sector as an opportunity for discussion, exchange and enrichment.

The seminars include an afternoon lab session, allowing participants interested in using open source tools to examine and test the applications illustrated during the morning.

The seminar takes place on 2 April 2009 at the Department of Computer Science, Largo B. Pontecorvo 3, Building C, G.B. Gerace lecture hall, Pisa, from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

The lecturers are Ilaria Pescini, Walter Volpi of Regione Toscana; Patrizia Marchetti, Gabriella Daniele of the Province of Pisa; Gianluca Craia, noze S.r.l.; Umberto Ferrara, Exentrica S.r.l.

The seminar topic is the use of certified email (PEC) and the analysis of the tool from various perspectives, plus application cooperation.

The rationalisation of formal communication with PA and within PA is one of the most challenging tasks of digital government. In this context, certified email and interoperable protocol are complementary tools. The seminar presents the Region’s strategies on application cooperation for communication among PAs, defines the roles of PEC and interoperable protocol, and proposes as a case study a project currently underway at the Province of Pisa. From a practical perspective, the open source platforms available for PEC and interoperable protocol are presented.

Registration is free and open at www.tosslab.it.
