Sixth T-OSSLab seminar in Pisa on open source CMS. Drupal, Joomla, Plone, Symphony compared: PHP framework, web application and portal development.

On 18 June the sixth meeting of the seminar cycle organised by T-OSSLab takes place, in collaboration with the University of Pisa, the Polo Tecnologico di Navacchio, the Province of Pisa and Regione Toscana.

The aim of the initiative is to promote the spread and use of open source tools in the Public Administration through talks by lecturers and experts who explore their technical, management and strategic aspects. The seminars are also aimed at companies in the sector as an opportunity for discussion, exchange and enrichment.

The seminar takes place on 18 June 2009 at the Department of Computer Science, Largo B. Pontecorvo 3, Building C, G.B. Gerace lecture hall, Pisa, from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

The topic of the next seminar is Content Management Systems (CMS).

CMS are applications born to allow easy management of contents of different origin and formats (images, texts, audio, video, photographs) even by those without programming knowledge. They allow sharing and disseminating information on the web, and integrating social sharing tools such as forums, blogs and additional services: they represent one of the sectors where web technologies show the greatest development.

The seminar presents some of the best-known open source solutions available for content management and for building web applications: Drupal, Joomla, Plone, Symphony.
