PloneGov at Com-P.A. 2008 in Milan (21-22-23 October, Pavilion 6 of the new exhibition centre, stand C-38).
PloneGov, successfully launched in Italy on 16 September in Ferrara, is an international initiative for the reuse of free software, which is generating great interest in Public Administration.
Over 70 European, North and South American and African public bodies participate in the PloneGov project. By doing so, they aim to achieve independence from IT service providers, developing — essentially autonomously and cooperatively — applications and websites for their own use and for their citizens. To gather further consensus and participation from public bodies, Italian and foreign speakers will illustrate the content and important successes achieved so far at Com.P.A 2008.
At the PloneGov stand, it will be possible to meet the Italian public administrations that have already joined the initiative.
On Tuesday 21 a Com-P.A. mini-conference dedicated to PloneGov will take place in the “Projects and Solutions” room of pavilion 6, from 2pm to 4pm, with a series of presentations, starting with the one dedicated to PloneGov strategies in Italy, focused on the replica of the Belgian model of www.communesplone.org, and the one by Xavier Heymans, CEO of the ZEA Partners network, the union of companies that support the Plone free software: presentations are also planned by Italian members of PloneGov, and, time permitting, we will be able to host a multi-voice discussion, which will otherwise be possible at the stand.
The PloneGov stand will be staffed from Tuesday 21 morning and throughout the whole duration of the fair. noze will be available for meetings upon prior contact and confirmation of attendance by email.
