The event
The First Tuesday Italy event takes place in Pisa, from 19:30 to 21:30, dedicated to the topic: “Open Source software: epochal turning point or flash in the pan?”. The First Tuesday format, born in London, brings together entrepreneurs, investors and technology professionals for informal discussions on current topics.
The panel
The debate is moderated by Filippo Gargani, City Leader of First Tuesday Italy for Tuscany. The panelists represent diverse perspectives on the Open Source phenomenon:
- Andrea Bonaccorsi — Director of the Master in Innovation Management, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa. He brings the academic perspective and economic analysis of Open Source models.
- Fabio Falzea — Corporate Marketing Director, Microsoft Italy. He represents the proprietary industry’s point of view.
- Antonio Malvaldi — IT Systems Manager, City of Pisa. The Public Administration’s experience in adopting open solutions.
- Stefano Noferi — CTO, noze.it. The voice of SMEs that build their business on Open Source.
- Gianugo Rabellino — Network & Security Manager, Ksolution. Networking and security expertise in the Open Source world.
The debate
The panel addresses the central question: is Open Source a structural change in the software market or a transient phenomenon? Business models, economic sustainability, adoption in public administration and enterprises, and the relationship with proprietary software are discussed. The presence of Microsoft Italy at the table makes the debate particularly significant.
