The project
D@NTE — Digitalizzazione Avanzata mediante Nuove Tecnologie Editoriali (Advanced Digitisation through New Publishing Technologies) — is a research project funded by the Tuscany Region with a budget of approximately 670,000 EUR. The consortium includes Giunti Editore, Giunti Scuola, Hyperborea, CubitLab and Centrica, with noze as the technology partner.
Research directions
The project explores the digital transformation of publishing along three fronts:
- New publishing systems: advanced tools for the production and management of digital editorial content, with automated workflows and multi-format handling
- Collaborative SaaS portal: a cloud platform for collaboration among authors, editors and reviewers, with web access and a Software as a Service model
- Learning platform for schools: a digital environment for education, integrated with Giunti Scuola’s editorial content
The architecture
The technological core is Alfresco, an Open Source ECM platform, enriched with:
- Semantic Web: semantic annotation of content to improve search and reuse
- XML taxonomies: structured classification of editorial content
- Editorial workflow: fully digitised review, approval and publication processes
The context
D@NTE represents an ambitious project that brings together traditional publishing and digital innovation. The collaboration with one of Italy’s leading publishing groups confirms noze’s ability to operate on large-scale enterprise projects.
