The founding
CIRS — Consortium Italicum Ratione Soluta — is founded as the first Italian consortium of companies specialised in FLOSS (Free/Libre and Open Source Software). noze is among the founding members of the initiative.
The mission
CIRS is established with a precise objective: to serve as a single, qualified point of contact for companies and public administrations that intend to adopt solutions based on free software with full control over their IT processes.
The consortium aggregates complementary expertise — development, system administration, security, training — offering clients the assurance of a structured network of specialised companies. The consortium approach makes it possible to tackle projects of greater scale than any single company could handle, while maintaining the specialization and flexibility typical of SMEs.
noze’s role
noze brings to the consortium the experience gained with InFlow CMS, the B.O.S.S. and Hermes server solutions, and participation in research projects such as CMOS. At a later stage, noze will assume the Presidency of CIRS, consolidating its role as a reference point in the Italian free software landscape.
The context
The founding of CIRS reflects the maturation of the Italian Open Source market: individual companies recognise the need to form networks in order to compete with large proprietary vendors and to meet the growing demands of Public Administration regarding free software. ]
