CIS S.r.l. (Follonica, GR) operates in the hotel supplies sector since 1978, with a portfolio of over 6,000 customers spread across the entire national territory. CIS’s sales network relies on agents who regularly visit hotels and accommodation facilities to collect orders for products, equipment and consumables.
noze builds for CIS a client/server Sales Force Automation (SFA) software that equips CIS agents with Compaq iPAQ handhelds running Linux as the operating system. The solution allows, in mobility on the customer’s site, to:
- consult the updated product catalogue
- consult the order history and the customer’s conditions
- enter new orders on the handheld
- synchronise with the central system via dial-up or GPRS connection
The project is particularly innovative for 2003: the adoption of Linux on handheld rather than Windows CE is a choice oriented both to the reliability of the solution and to the customisation of the interface to the specific needs of the CIS sales process.
